AI-Use Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

Guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and WAME recommendations on Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) for JTKP: Jurnal Teknologi dan Komunikasi Pemerintahan.

Boundaries of AI Utilization in Manuscript Preparation

✓ Permissible Uses (Technical & Editorial Support)

  • Grammar editing, language polishing, and readability enhancement (e.g., Grammarly, QuillBot).
  • Generating syntax scripts for statistical processing and data visualization software (R, Python, STATA).
  • Preliminary literature indexing and exploratory keyword search expansion (subject to mandatory human verification of the primary source texts).

✗ Strictly Prohibited (Severe Ethical Misconduct)

  • Generating substantive core research narratives, interpretive findings, or analytical conclusions automatically.
  • Data fabrication, artificial dataset augmentation, or synthetic survey creation.
  • Citing fabricated or hallucinated references generated by AI models.
  • Listing Generative AI or LLM tools as an author or co-author.
Mandatory Manuscript Declaration

To preserve scientific transparency and accountability within JTKP, published by the Government Information Technology Engineering Study Program (TRIP), IPDN, authors must include an explicit disclosure statement in the main manuscript immediately preceding the References section:

Option A: If AI tools were utilized for technical or language assistance:
"During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) utilized [Tool Name & Version] strictly for [Specific Purpose, e.g., language grammar editing and readability enhancement]. The authors reviewed and edited the output as needed and assume full personal accountability for the integrity, authenticity, and interpretation of the published work."
Option B: If no AI tools were utilized:
"The author(s) declare that the research design, empirical data collection, analysis, and manuscript drafting were conducted entirely independently without the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Large Language Model (LLM) technologies."
AI Ethics for Peer Reviewers & Editorial Board

  • Strict Confidentiality Protection: Peer reviewers and editors are strictly prohibited from uploading unpublished manuscripts, reviewer forms, or submitted data files into public Generative AI web platforms. Doing so violates author copyright and breaches the journal's confidentiality agreement.
  • Human Analytical Evaluation: Reviewer assessments, qualitative critiques, and final editorial decisions must be rendered through direct human scholarly expertise rather than automated AI summarizers.
