Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

Guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and WAME recommendations on Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) in scholarly research.

1. Boundaries of AI Utilization in Manuscript Preparation
✅ Permissible Uses (Technical & Editorial Support)
  • Grammar correction, language polishing, and readability enhancement (e.g., Grammarly, QuillBot).
  • Generating code syntax for statistical software and data visualization packages (R, Python, STATA).
  • Preliminary search keyword expansion and exploratory literature indexing (with mandatory verification of original source texts).
❌ Strictly Prohibited Uses (Severe Ethical Misconduct)
  • Generating substantive core research narratives, analysis of findings, or conclusions automatically.
  • Data fabrication, artificial data augmentation, or synthetic survey creation.
  • Including fictitious references produced by AI hallucinations (hallucinated citations).
  • Listing Generative AI / LLM tools as an author or co-author.
2. Mandatory Two-Tier Declaration Mechanism

To ensure academic transparency and legal accountability, all contributing authors must provide a two-tier disclosure:

Tier 1: Pre-Submission Originality & AI Form (Supplementary File)
The corresponding author must complete and sign the official Statement of Originality & AI Declaration Form with a legal duty stamp (Rp 10,000) during initial submission on OJS.
Tier 2: End-Matter Declaration in Main Manuscript
Authors must incorporate one of the two explicit statements immediately before the References section:
• Option A: If AI Tools Were Utilized for Technical Assistance:
"During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) utilized [Tool Name & Version] strictly for [Specific Purpose, e.g., language grammar editing and readability enhancement]. The authors reviewed and edited the output as needed and assume full personal accountability for the integrity, authenticity, and interpretation of the published work."
• Option B: If No AI Tools Were Utilized:
"The author(s) declare that the research design, empirical data collection, analysis, and manuscript drafting were conducted entirely independently without the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Large Language Model (LLM) technologies."
3. AI Ethics for Peer Reviewers and Editorial Board Members
  • Confidentiality Protection: Peer Reviewers and Editors are strictly prohibited from uploading unpublished manuscripts or submitted files into public AI web platforms. Doing so breaches author copyright and violates confidentiality agreements.
  • Human Evaluation Requirement: Review reports, editorial decisions, and critical evaluations must be composed through human analytical expertise rather than automated AI generation.
