Samarinda always plagued by the problem of flooding to date, coverage of the flood are still scattered throughout the city to the need for flood control improvement strategy in Samarinda so that the flooding problems can be solved. This reasearch intends to formulate a strategy of flood control in the city of Samarinda using the theory of the strategy proposed by Bryson, with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection through interviews and documentation. Research strategies for improving flood control and consists of 8 issues very strategic, strategy builds on the commitment of government, private and public, a strategy utilizing the budget is significant in accelerating overcome the flooding problems, a strategy the need for the participation of communities, LSM, and the world effort in preparing to with the implementation of the program of flood control, revitalization strategy and relocating settlements on a river bank Karangmumus, strategies completion of land acquisition and social problems, a sustainability strategy implementation program of flood control, the development strategy of normalization of the drainage channel in Samarinda, strategies for improving operation and maintenance of facilities and flood control infrastructure.
